Why essential oils?

When essential oils first entered my consciousness, I had no idea how powerful they could be. I thought essential oils were for making my house smell nice. While I saw them all over natural grocery stores, I didn’t really think twice about them. Then, one day, everything shifted. When I met my partner, he introduced me to Young Living essential oils, and only then did I realize that these high quality essential oils were actually sacred plant allies. Using essential oils to make my house smell nice was just one tiny facet of the potential these oils offered. What I learned is that these oils can also help support normal body functions, clear emotional blockages, and can function as powerful, spiritual allies. Over the last few years I have developed a profound relationship to these oils, and it is a profound joy to share them with others through ritual and ceremony.

Not all essential oils are created equal

98% of essential oils on the market are adulterated with petrochemicals, or are solvent-extracted, or contain plants grown with harsh pesticides and chemicals. I chose to align with Young Living after extensive research. Young Living is one of the only essential oil companies with integrity. I have visited the farms and seen firsthand that they don’t use any chemicals or pesticides - they actually use sheep to eat the weeds! Just ask me to show you the video from the helichrysum farm in Croatia. Young Living is the only essential oil company that owns their own farms. Read that again. All other big essential oil companies are merely brokers of oils; they do not grow a single plant themselves. But Young Living is committed to the well-being of our beautiful Mother Earth by tending to the plants and distilling their own oils. We are so lucky to have access to these precious products.

Working alongside plant allies enables us to rekindle a sense of the sacred

In order for essential oils to have the full spectrum of healing properties, they need to contain only plants—plants that have been tended to with beauty, care, and intention. People have lived symbiotically with plants for millennia, and with Young Living Essential Oils, we are able to maintain and honor this sacred tradition.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I highly recommend starting with the Premium Starter Kit. This collection comes with 12 oils, a diffuser, and some amazing samples of Thieves cleaning products and nutritional supplements. It’s what I call a “gateway” into essential oils. These 12 oils cover a lot of bases - from Lavender, which can help you or your little ones get to sleep at night, to Frankincense for your spiritual practice and/or skincare, to Panway which is essential for any first-aid kit. I would be more than happy to teach you how to get started with these 12 oils - just contact me!

  • There are several ways to go about this. For the left-brained amongst us, I recommend the Essential Oil Desk Reference, which helps you to look up oils for specific ailments or needs. It’s extremely useful and everyone should have a copy. The Desk Reference even points to hundreds of peer-reviewed research studies, showing how essential oils have been studied in recent years. For the more right-brained, I like to suggest intuition. I often say that “the nose knows.” If you’re tuning into a problem you’re having, it helps to bring out an assortment of oils and smell each one. Your intuition will not only tell you which one can help, but it may also guide you into knowing where on your body you should anoint. I recommend attending one of my gatherings to learn more about which oils work best for you.

  • This is a great question. In ancient times, for example in ancient Egypt, anointing was a common practice. If a visitor came to your door, you would anoint their heads and feet with essential oils. This was a gesture of hospitality, but it also had health benefits - essential oils are commonly antiviral, antibacterial, antiseptic, etc. so it protected the host’s health. In biblical times, anointing was a common practice in temples. Simply put, anointing means to apply essential oils to your body, usually energetic centers like the heart or top of head, with intention and/or prayer.

  • Absolutely not, though once you start incorporating them into your daily life, it will be hard not to! With Young Living, you can create an account and order what you want when you want it. That being said, you CAN enroll in a Loyalty Order program, and that has a lot of benefits if you feel you’re going to start the Young Living lifestyle. With each monthly order, you receive points back that can be used on Young Living products.
